• The Slocan Ramblers — Concert Poster

• A touring bluegrass band was coming to a small-town stage, and the poster had one job: fill the seats.

• StageNorth booked the Slocan Ramblers for a Saturday night show and needed a poster that could sell tickets across a broad Slave Lake audience — not just bluegrass fans. With a $275 budget, a one-day turnaround, and no photography budget of my own, I had to build the whole thing around a single promotional band photo and make it feel like an event worth showing up for.

• I sourced the band's press photo and built everything else around it in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Rather than compete with the photo, I let the band's rustic, road-worn energy drive the palette — warm golds, deep maroon, and hand-lettered-style type — and used oversized, overlapping typography to make "Slocan Ramblers" the loudest thing on the page, so the name would register even at a glance.

• The client was thrilled with the result, thanked me for the work, and ran the poster as a newspaper ad ahead of the show.
