The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber — Concert Poster
A one-night concert needed to sell out a theatre in Slave Lake, with a $275 budget, a single day to design it, and no image budget to work with.
StageNorth booked vocalist Terry Barber to perform a night of Andrew Lloyd Webber's music and needed a poster that could move tickets fast — for an audience that skewed broad, not just theatre regulars. The Phantom of the Opera was the anchor for the evening, so the design had to lean into that instantly recognizable world.
I had no photography or stock budget, so I built the poster entirely from what I could source and composite myself — candelabras, roses, and the iconic Phantom mask — layering them in Photoshop and finishing type and layout in Illustrator and InDesign. Working solo with a one-day turnaround, every decision had to be fast: I leaned on the Phantom's gothic-romantic palette (teal smoke, deep black, blood red) to make the poster read as "event" from across a room, then built the typography hierarchy so the headline sold the show before anyone read a word of copy.
The client loved the final poster and ran it as a newspaper ad, putting it in front of the whole community ahead of the show.
Micro-version: Built a full concert poster from scratch in one day on a $275 budget — no stock photos, just Photoshop and a deadline.
